My name is Dr. Zwila Burks Martinez, and I have served as the CEO/President of Social Bridges Inc, a 501c3 non-profit in New Orleans, Louisiana, and the CEO of The Lingo Factory, LLC since 2015. For over 20 years, I have dedicated most of my time instructing students in Spanish and English, tutoring in Reading, and researching how to improve Black children’s reading skills. I have earned my Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership with a focus on improving vocabulary and reading skills in the Early Childhood years. Because I am so passionate about this, I began The Lingo Factory with a focus on partnering with businesses, families, and individuals to offer professional guidance in fulfilling their professional and personal goals. I also have a Masters of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction and I have earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Language (Spanish).
My objective is to assist with the well-being of those families and individuals by providing support, tools, and resources to help live a better life.
Although I am an English-speaking American, I perfected my Spanish dialect by living with Spanish families in Coahuila ~ one of the three largest states in Mexico. While there, I taught Business English to Spanish professionals at the Language Center. Also, I am married to a Honduran and we converse regularly in both languages.
Additionally, I have committed myself to more community service work where I serve on the Board of Directors (2 years) and Policy Council (3 years) at Kingsley House, a 501c3 non-profit that services at-risk early learners and senior citizens. I have partnered with United Way of Southeast Louisiana through a campaign to share the importance of early childhood education for children with Autism. I provided English language and writing workshops for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff Department.
Because I am extremely confident that these services would be very beneficial to those who would avail themselves to this much-needed services, I sincerely hope that you will give me the opportunity to meet with you to discuss what you may need and how I may help.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
